Italian authorities have launched an investigation into suspected Russian drone flights over a research facility in Ispra, Varese province. According to judicial sources cited by ANSA, the Milan prosecutor's anti-terrorism unit is leading the probe. Reports suggest that unidentified drones, possibly of Russian origin, flew over the area at least five times in the past month.
Ispra is home to facilities of the EU’s Joint Research Center, and the region also hosts plants belonging to Italy’s defense and aerospace company, Leonardo. The investigation aims to determine the drones' origins and potential security threats.
