It is difficult for Europe to give up Russian gas, but it is absolutely possible to give up oil, - Yatsenyuk
Prime Minister of Ukraine 2014-2016 Arseniy Yatsenyuk believes that it is difficult for European countries to give up Russian gas, but it is possible, and oil is absolutely real
Politician expressed this opinion on air of Espresso.TV.
"It is very difficult for Europe to give up gas today. And to give up oil is absolutely realistic, because oil transportation can be ensured. Europe has already given up buying coal, although it was small - about $ 4 billion Russians received. Even give up from Russian gas in the long run is quite real, "Yatsenyuk said.
Politician pointed on Italian example, whose prime minister held talks with Algeria last week and increased Algerian gas supplies by 30%, thus reducing dependence on Russia.
"First of all, rejection of Russian gas is in interests of Europe itself, because energy is a weapon. And Russia uses these weapons. At first it was against Ukraine, but we refused contract with Russia's Gazprom. Gas resource in Russia is not just to replace in one day, but Europe is moving towards green energy, can increase its own production and buy gas from United States. This is a matter of political will, "said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
