Iran delivers munitions to Russia by Caspian Sea
Iran helps Russia wage an aggressive war in Ukraine and delivers ammunition by water across the Caspian Sea to Astrakhan
The Wall Street Journal reported the information, citing its own sources in the Middle East.
Russian ships have been transporting large quantities of Iranian artillery shells and other ammunition across the Caspian Sea to help troops fighting in Ukraine.
Over the past six months, cargo ships have transported more than 300,000 artillery shells and one million rounds of ammunition from Iran to Russia, according to official figures and documents reviewed by the Wall Street Journal. Intelligence on the shipments was passed on to the US.
Such active cooperation between Moscow and Tehran poses a growing problem for the US and its allies.
The latest shipment, which the WSJ learned about, left Iran for Russia by sea on March 23.
