Instagram blocks page of Azovstal Defenders' Families Association

This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Association of Families of Defenders of Azovstal.

"Friends, you all have already noticed that this morning Instagram blocked our account, which had more than 33 thousand followers", it is noted. 

The Association of Families of Defenders of Azovstal reported that it filed an appeal against this decision.

"We also appealed to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine with a request to assist in unblocking the account. We hope that Meta will admit their mistake and return the page, if not, we are finally waiting for a statement about their company's support for the terrorist army of the Russian Federation", they said.

The Association also requested to subscribe to their Facebook and Twitter.

It is known that the Association of Families of Defenders of Azovstal began its activities on June 1, 2022. It was created with the aim of returning Ukrainian defenders home.

The Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, also commented on this situation on Telegram.

"Today I received a request from the Association of Defenders of Azovstal regarding the block of their Instagram account. Our team has already sent a letter to Meta with a request to unblock the page", he wrote.

He emphasized that the pages of Ukrainian defenders should not be blocked.

"We hope that soon the company will be able to comprehensively change approaches to content moderation and solve the problem of mass blocking of Ukrainian users. The world should know the truth about the war in Ukraine", the minister said.

On May 30, the wives, mothers and sisters of the defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal created their own council Women of Steel. 

On August 9, the Association of Families of Defenders of Azovstal appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the UN regarding the preparation by the Russian occupiers of the so-called tribunal over the Azov fighters and called to prevent the trial of the Ukrainian military.
