If Putin does not succeed with Ukraine, he will try to finally annex Belarus - Latushko
Pavlo Latushko, Belarusian politician and opposition activist, explained why Russia started transferring its troops to Belarus.
The politician shared his opinion with "Espreso.TV" live on air.
"In my opinion, two scenarios can be considered today. The basic scenario: the creation of a joint group in order to create informational pressure on Ukraine. In order for Ukraine to raise troops. The second stage is a real entry (Belarus into the war with Ukraine - ed. ), but this is most likely next year. Well, the third scenario is that under all this guise Russians have a clear plan to annex Belarus and it must be done before Putin's elections (2024 - ed.), if he waits for these elections - Latushko said.
"Excuse me for this comparison, I immediately ask you to understand me correctly - Putin wanted to eat the main dish at the dinner table, this is Ukraine. It doesn't work out. He broke his teeth. Well, or at least he is breaking. These teeth are cracking. And as dessert - definitely Belarus. He told this to Chancellor (Germany - ed.) Scholz on February 15. He said that Ukraine and Belarus should not exist as states, they should be included in Russian Federation" - Belarusian oppositionist noted.
"I have a feeling that in this situation, Putin just wants to start his dinner with dessert. Or maybe he will finish it. As much as I am sorry to say this as a Belarusian politician, one must understand the reality of these plans, this threat, in order to realize - why oppose. And these are Putin's real plans - to eat Belarus, which means annexing Belarus" - Pavlo Latushko explained.
