If Germany does not help Ukraine with energy equipment and ammunition, West will face new "migration tsunami" - Ukraine’s PM warns
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that Russia's constant shelling of critical infrastructure could trigger a new wave of refugees to Europe
This was reported by the German Stuttgarter-Nachrichten newspaper.
"If there is no electricity, heating, or water in Ukraine, this may cause a new migration tsunami," he said.
Shmyhal also accused Russia of wanting to "plunge Ukraine into a humanitarian catastrophe" by attacking its civilian infrastructure.
Therefore he asked for "mobile power and heat generation equipment" as well as water purification equipment. There is still fuel for the generators, "but if there is a large-scale failure in the electricity and heat supply, we will need more." Then Ukraine will also need "electricity imports" from the West. In addition, the Prime Minister appealed to Germany to provide further military assistance as soon as possible.
"It's literally a matter of days," the prime minister said.
He added that the jammers are also needed to counter the "20-30 Iranian kamikaze drones" that Russia uses against Ukraine every day.
Shmyhal also praised the recently delivered German anti-aircraft missile complex "IRIS-T". It is now in use and "has already saved many, many lives," Ukraine’s prime minister noted.
On Monday, Denys Schmyhal and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will open the German-Ukrainian economic forum in Berlin, where the top representatives of both countries will discuss rebuilding Ukraine. Several ministers from Ukraine will come to Berlin or will participate online, the organizers said.
