If EU survives this heating season without Russian gas, relations with Russia will change forever - political scientist Magda
If the EU survives this heating season without Russian gas, then the Russian Federation will become a country that tries to get illusory dividends and has buried the image of a reliable partner.
Political scientist Evgeny Magda told about it on Espreso.
"As of now, gas storages in Europe are more than 90% full. It is about ensuring an effective mechanism of solidarity between different countries. For example, in Latvia, gas storages are about 60% full, and in Poland - about 100%. This is a difficult moment, because this issue is related to money and logistics. European politicians should be inspired and guided by one simple point - if the EU survives this heating season without Russian gas, relations with Russia will change forever," he said.
According to Magda, Russia will forever bury its image as a reliable partner and become a country that seeks to receive some absolutely illusory dividends and a country that is not adequate for existing challenges.
"We must clearly understand that Russia is now going all-in, but it is counting on the ability to become such a stick in an anthill. That its policy will become such that it will manage to stir up the European community. We see protest actions in various countries - and in Moldova, and in Austria, people left. This is a normal process for Europe. Let's ask ourselves the question - where are the mass protests against the war in the Russian Federation, because it lost tens of thousands of its fellow citizens. Does this suit everyone? Then the question arises - what are the reasons for the EU and countries that aspire to become its members, as well as NATO and its partners, the issue of restraint in their actions against the Russian Federation," the political scientist concluded.
