IAEA Director General Grossi will return to Ukraine after Russia visit
The Director General of the IAEA, after visiting Kyiv, is going to Russia to agree on a nuclear safety protection zone around the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant
This is stated in the IAEA report.
"The Zaporizhzhya NPP must be protected. I will go to the Russian Federation soon, and then return to Ukraine to agree on a nuclear safety protection zone around the NPP. This is an absolute and urgent imperative," IAEA Director General Grossi emphasized.
He stated that the resumption of shelling of the ZNPP, which led to a complete blackout, is "extremely irresponsible."
According to the IAEA, currently all safety systems of the station continue to receive power and operate normally. ZNPP engineers have started work on repairing the damaged 750 kV power transmission line.
After the blackout, 16 diesel generators automatically started working at the ZNPP. After the situation stabilized, ten generators were turned off, leaving six to provide the reactors with the necessary electricity.
