Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó announced the information.
He made this statement after a conversation with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. They discussed topical issues of Hungarian-Russian energy cooperation.
Novak assured that the Russian party would be able to carry out repairs to the TurkStream gas pipeline. Thus, oil and natural gas shipments will be completed in accordance with the contract, and Hungary will have uninterrupted gas supply in the near future.
"We also agreed on the construction of new units at the Paks NPP and determined that preparatory work is underway, and as new nuclear capacity is essential for security of supply in Hungary, the government will continue to prevent any sanctions related to the nuclear sector," Szijjártó said.
He also noted that he is in talks with Framatome. The company aims to transfer the Western European control system to new power plants despite the German government's blocking.
