Hungary blocks €500 million military aid tranche to Ukraine
Hungary has again blocked the tranche of military aid to Ukraine under the European Peace Facility until Kyiv provides “guarantees” for Hungarian companies
This was reported by The Guardian and Radio Liberty correspondent Rikard Jozwiak in X.
"Another discussion on Ukraine in Brussels today among the 27 EU foreign ministers. And still a blockage of the 8th tranche (€500 million) of EU military aid to Ukraine," Jozwiak wrote.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the country would block the payment of the next tranche until Kyiv provides "guarantees" that OTP Bank or other Hungarian firms will not be blacklisted as international sponsors of the war.
According to him, during the meeting, Hungary was "pressured" to support the disbursement of €500 million.
