Hungarian FM Szijjártó comments on his Minsk visit
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has explained that he traveled to Minsk earlier this week to call for a ceasefire and the start of peace talks
Magyar Hirlap reported that Szijjártó said he had asked his Belarusian colleagues not to take military steps and steps that could lead to the continuation of the war over time. He also urged not to take steps that would, depending on the circumstances, provoke a geographical expansion of the war.
The Hungarian FM added that he did not hold talks with the Russians in Minsk. Szijjártó claims that neither he nor anyone from his delegation negotiated with anyone other than Belarusians.
“If I want to negotiate with the Russians, I will go to Moscow and report on it. I don't need to negotiate with the Russians in Minsk in secret,” Szijjártó emphasized.
