How Pochaiv Lavra visitors justify Putin's actions
Nuns at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) shared their perspective on the reasons behind Russian armed aggression against Ukraine and the resulting casualties during their stay at the Pochaiv Lavra in the Ternopil region
Hromadske released a report today, April 23, 2023, detailing the conversation that the channel's correspondent, Maryana Pietsuh, had with two members of the UOC (MP).
One of the nuns was born in Kyiv, and the other was from the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
When Pietsuh asked the nuns how they could have a positive attitude towards Putin while he was launching missiles, one of them replied that God was responsible and could send arrows for lawlessness that could destroy the whole world. According to the nuns, Putin was given the right to be in power by God and is supported by Michael the Archangel.
The nuns also believe that Ukrainians are responsible for the war because they "became proud" and "wanted to be free" by separating from Russia and seeking European Union membership. Additionally, they view Great Rus, White Rus, and Little Rus as parts of the Holy Trinity.
