Heavy fighting for railway station takes place in Bakhmut - AFU fighter Voloshchenko

"To summarize the situation in Bakhmut, the Russians continue to destroy everything on their way. Lately, they have concentrated all their forces and means at the railway station. There is also an elevator behind the railroad in Bakhmut, which they are also trying to destroy. This is all they are capable of today. To bunch up, even if they are flanked, and attack in the area of the railway station," said Voloshchenko.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier emphasized that the invaders keep trying to cut the only road that the Ukrainian army uses to receive equipment in Bakhmut.

"If earlier the Russians were attacking more intensively in the area of Orikhove, Vasylivka and Bohdanivka, Khromove, now they are able to put pressure only on Khromove. In this way, they are trying to cut off the only road by which the Ukrainian Armed Forces receive supplies. However, the Defense Forces do not allow them to do so and work consistently together," he added.

• On April 17, the head of Ukraine's Defence Intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, said that in all areas except Bakhmut and Avdiivka, Russia had launched a strategic defense operation to hold the seized territories.
