Energodar occupation head now suspected of collaborating with invading Russian forces
Ukrainian General Prosecutor's Office reports suspicion that official who headed the occupation authorities in temporarily occupied Energodar, Zaporizhzhya region in fact collaborated with invading Russian forces
According to the investigation, in late March 2022, during the temporary occupation of Energodar, a local official voluntarily accepted a position in the authorities that were established by Russian occupation forces, in violation of local laws.
"The suspect informed the city’s residents in an online video message about his appointment as the 'head of the public council of the self-organization of the city of Energodar'. At present, the 'official' is actively ensuring the implementation of organizational, regulatory and administrative functions", the Office of the Prosecutor General noted.
The Zaporizhzhya Regional Prosecutor's Office informed the official concerned that he is suspected of being a collaborator (part 5 of article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators with the National Police’s Main Directorate, Zaporizhzhya region.
