He captured a Russian commander: Ukrainian border guard awarded For Services to Ukraine's Armed Forces
A Ukrainian border guard has been awarded For Services to Ukraine's Armed Forces. The soldier captured a commander serving with the Russian Air Force unit after the plane was destroyed
Ukraine's State Border Service shared the details.
"One day in March, the Ukrainian defenders shot down an enemy Su-30SM fighter. The fighter was supposed to expose the positions of the Ukrainian military and the locations of air defense equipment, but failed the mission thanks to our defenders. The crew ejected: one of the Russian soldiers was detained by a group of fighters led by the border guard, and the other - by the Ukrainian Defence Forces," the message reads.
The detainee turned out to be the commander of an aviation unit stationed in the temporarily Russia-occupied Crimea.
For the protection of Ukraine's state sovereignty, the border guard was awarded the badge For Services to Ukraine's Armed Forces.
It is reported that the border guard has been serving in Ukraine's State Border Service for more than 10 years. During the first month of the war, fighters together with their comrades from Ukraine's Armed Forces, the National Guard, and other units defended the border in the south.
