Will Ukraine be able to secure its food supply this year?
Denys Marchuk, deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council, said that Ukraine will be able to fully provide itself with food as expected from this year's harvest
He reported this on Espreso TV.
"More than a million grains have been harvested in the fields, and active work continues. Let's hope that the weather will be favorable so that we get the planned results for this season. As for the grain harvest, we have preliminary analyzes and expect about 56 million tons, and the oilseeds harvest will be within 21-22 million tons, meaning that we will have a total of 77-78 million tons of grains and oilseeds, and thus will be fully self-sufficient in food. Because in a time of war, given the number of people who were forced to leave, we need no more than 15 million tons," commented the Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council.
Denys Marchuk noted that more than 60 million tons is the total potential export that we can sell and receive foreign currency earnings, thus supporting Ukraine's economy.
