Vasyl Bondar, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, has announced plans to hold a global peace summit in New York on the anniversary of Russian full-scale invasion
The Turkish Anadolu agency reports with reference to Vasyl Bondar, the chief of Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Turkey.
The Ukrainian ambassador said that a global peace summit, which Ukraine proposed to hold through mediation of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, is scheduled for February 24 at the UN headquarters in New York.
"We believe that this summit will most likely take place at the UN in New York on February 24," Vasyl Bondar said.
Bodnar stated that Ukraine is ready for peace, and that is why Ukraine’s president proposed his peace formula earlier. He recalled that Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined a plan for achieving peace addressing the G20 summit. The 10-point initiative covers such issues as security of Ukraine and the region as a whole, food security, energy security, and withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory.
- At the end of December it was reported that the Ukrainian government plans to hold an international summit to discuss peace formula and end war, and it wants UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to preside over this summit.
