Gift from Ukraine explodes in Warsaw police headquarters
Poland’s Police Commander-in-Chief, Jaroslaw Szymczyk, and a civilian employee have been injured when a present from Ukraine exploded
Poland’s Ministry of the Interior and Administration reported this in a statement on its official website.
“Yesterday (on December 14 - ed.) at 7:50 a.m. there was an explosion in a room adjacent to the office of the Police Commander-in-Chief,” the statement said.
“One of the presents the police chief received during his working visit to Ukraine on December 11-12 exploded.”
The gift was presented when Poland’s Police Commander-in-Chief, Jaroslaw Szymczyk, was meeting officials of the Ukrainian police and State Emergency Service
As a result of the explosion, the police chief suffered minor injuries and has been hospitalized. A civilian employee of the National Police Headquarters also suffered minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.
“The Polish side asked the Ukrainian counterparts to provide relevant explanations. The case has been handled by the prosecutor's office and relevant services from the beginning,” the ministry said.
