Germany should urgently supply Ukraine with Taurus - Bundestag committee head
The head of the Bundestag's Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, says that Germany urgently needs to supply Ukraine with long-range Taurus cruise missiles
This is reported by Tagesschau.
In the debate on the supply of cruise missiles to Ukraine, the chairman of the Bundestag Defense Committee once again increased pressure on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Instead, she made it clear that the Defense Forces could attack military targets in Russia with weapons from Germany.
"Now we have to deliver the Taurus immediately, because with the targeted use of cruise missiles, the Ukrainian army can seriously disrupt Russian supplies," said Strack-Zimmermann.
At the same time, the head of the Bundestag committee wrote on Twitter that Scholz is the only one blocking the delivery of Taurus missiles.
"What is he waiting for? For God's sake. He alone is blocking this decision within the coalition. This is irresponsible," the statement says.
- On September 15, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius promised a decision on providing Ukraine with Taurus missiles in a week or two and explained why the government needed more time to think about it.
- Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the provision of long-range missiles to Ukraine was discussed during a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Joe Biden, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz last week.
