Boost for Ukraine's air defense: Germany provides USD 1.3 billion aid package
On November 22, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Germany had provided another USD 1.3 billion military aid package to Ukraine - the funds will be used to strengthen air defense
The president of Ukraine wrote this on Telegram.
"We have a new powerful support package from Germany. This is defense support — 1 billion 300 million euros. Among other things, this package includes strengthening our air defense, namely the production of new Iris-T systems and missiles for air defense. Thanks to this, our cities, thousands of lives of our people will be saved from Russian terror," Zelenskyy wrote.
Zelenskyy also said that the package contains the artillery Ukraine needs.
"A really serious package, very serious. Germany is among the leaders in helping our defense, our state and in preserving peace throughout Europe," the president said.
In total, the package includes 4 IRIS-T SLM systems, 155-mm shells and anti-tank mines - the 5th military aid package in a year.
Zelenskyy discussed with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius the current situation on the battlefield and cooperation, including joint arms production.
