She said this before the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Ukrinform reports.
"The Federal Republic of Germany will double its military support for Ukraine next year - from EUR 4 billion to EUR 8 billion," Lührmann said.
According to her, this week is also crucial, as the partners want to open negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the EU. The diplomat assured that Germany continues to stand firmly by Ukraine's side.
"Germany's position here is very clear. The 26 EU members are very united in wanting to start such negotiations," Lührmann said and expressed hope that this would happen despite Hungary's position.
- In November, Bild reported that Germany would double its military aid to Ukraine in 2024, with the total amount amounting to EUR 8 billion, citing information from the German Defense Ministry.
