Germany approves Leopard 1 supply and discusses Gepard purchase
German government officials have approved the Leopard 1 tank supply, and are currently discussing the purchase of 15 Gepard SPAAGs from Qatar for Ukraine

Leopard tanks may be sent to Ukraine after they are restored, it is stated by Reuters with reference to German government sources.
Rheinmetall and Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG) are set to refurbish dozens of Leopard 1 tanks and might send them to Ukraine if Kyiv agrees to buy them.
German officials discussed the possible purchase of 15 Gepard air defence systems purchased for the World Cup stadiums security with Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Berlin also tried to get more ammunition from Qatar.
"The Gepards have proven themselves very well in the war in Ukraine. If we could get more from partners here, that would definitely help the Ukrainians," said German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

On January 25, Germany agreed to supply Ukraine with 14 Leopard 2 tanks, and allowed re-export by other countries.
