Georgian authorities should be reminded who gave weapons to resist Russia in 2008 - MP Honcharenko
Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksiy Honcharenko believes that the Georgian authorities risk depriving Georgia of the opportunity to join the EU
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel.
"The worst case scenario in the situation with Saakashvili is that he may simply die in a Georgian prison. This will have serious consequences for Georgia and the Georgian authorities. If this happens, we can forget about Georgia's European integration. This will be a problem. After all, the Georgian people deserve to be part of Europe," Honcharenko explained.
The lawmaker emphasized that the Georgian authorities should decide on a political course.
"The Georgian authorities are acting very weird. They cannot decide on their position in Russia's war against Ukraine. Strange statements are constantly being made by Georgia. In particular, the statement of Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili that after Ukraine's victory over Russia, the peace agreement should include the return of the occupied territories to Georgia. Then, perhaps, something should be done for this. The same goes for military assistance. The Georgian authorities refused to return our weapons to us. They have forgotten whose weapons they used to resist Russian aggression in 2008," he added.

On February 1, Georgian President Salomé Zourabichvili said in an interview with Bloomberg that after the defeat in Ukraine, Russia will be obliged to return the occupied territories not only to Ukraine but also to Georgia and must learn where its borders are.
