The people responsible for this could go to prison for life, as reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

The SBU has neutralized a group of FSB agents who were trying to track down ABRAMS tanks near Avdiivka.

In Donetsk, the security services have stopped another group of FSB agents, including two individuals from the Pokrovsk district. They were working separately but had a common connection to the Russian special service in the occupied part of the region.

These agents were trying to collect information about the Ukrainian Armed Forces' movements in the Avdiiv region, particularly the positions of Ukrainian artillery and the routes of heavy armored vehicles, including ABRAMS tanks. They also sent the locations of Ukrainian checkpoints and fortifications to the aggressors, who needed this information for planning their own military actions, including targeted drone and missile strikes on Ukrainian troops. These agents were paid for each task they completed with money deposited into their bank cards.

SBU agents discovered the intelligence and sabotage activities of these Russian agents and arrested them in their own homes. They found mobile phones with evidence of tasks from the FSB and reports on their execution.

The investigation revealed that these agents were recruited by the Russian special service in June of this year. They traveled around the Pokrovsk district, covertly taking pictures of Ukrainian bases and troop movements. They sent all the collected information to the occupied part of Donetsk through messengers in the form of photos and electronic maps.

Based on the evidence collected, both detainees have been informed of their suspicions under the Ukrainian Criminal Code. They could face life imprisonment if found guilty.

NoteAccording to the Ukrainian Constitution (Article 62), a person is considered innocent until proven guilty in a legal manner by a court.

  • Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine stopped an anti-Ukrainian group that was directing rockets and guided aerial bombs from the Russian Federation towards residential buildings in Kherson.
