Fresh Russian fake news on Zaporizhzhia liberation, Canadian media distortion.
The Center for Combating Disinformation has published a selection of newly identified fake stories manufactured by Russian propaganda. Among them is a false report suggesting that Western volunteers will „liberate“ Zaporizhzhia from Ukrainian forces and a fake story on the Canadian media allegedly distorting the contents of an Amnesty International report.
This was reported by the Disinformation Counteraction Center at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in a Telegram.
According to the Central Security Service of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, on August 18, the Russians launched three major deceptions.
Manipulation. Russian propagandists reported that the "militias" of the Zaporizhzhia region are gathering a volunteer army "to liberate the region from Ukrainian nationalists", and among the volunteers who want to liberate the region, there are supposedly residents of Western countries, for example, Germany.
Disinformation. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ihor Vyshnevetskyi, stated that it seems that Ukraine is shelling nuclear facilities and thus violates the main principle of the IAEA... According to the words of the Russian occupier, the IAEA delegation cannot come to the Zaporizhia NPP while Ukraine is shelling the facility... (however) the Russian Federation is interested in organization of the delegation's trip to the ZNPP and will help in every possible way to make the visit happen.
Manipulation. Russian propaganda media write that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has published an overview of "false" publications, the main thesis of which is that "Canadian media allegedly deny the facts of Ukraine's crimes and try to twist the content of the Amnesty International report on violations of the laws of war by the Ukrainian military."
