German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that the proposals for a truce with Russia are "reckless" because the establishment of a cease-fire now, in fact, justifies all the injustice that is being done.

Some Western officials insist that a cease-fire may be the only way to end the fighting. However, Steinmeier called any proposal for a truce "reckless."
"Because to establish a cease-fire at this point in time would essentially condone all of the injustice that has already taken place," he explained.
Since Russian troops are occupying parts of Ukraine, the truce will now allow Moscow to maintain its presence in these territories, although this is a violation of international law, he said. "This cannot be the goal of a ceasefire," he added.
