Finnish Foreign Ministry supports sharp reduction in visas for Russians
The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs will issue significantly fewer visas to Russians, and priority will be given to those who come to the country for family reasons or for work
This was reported on the Yle website.
The government has decided to significantly reduce the number of tourist visas for Russians. In addition, Finland also supports the termination of the visa facilitation agreement with Russia.
"After the coronavirus, there is a noticeable increase in tourists from Russia at a time when we are trying to help Ukrainian refugees. It is inappropriate that Finland has become a transshipment point for vacations in Europe", Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto said.
In order to reduce the number of visas, Finland has decided to limit the acceptance of applications by time. For example, as Haavisto explained, they can allocate only one day a week for Russians to apply for a tourist visa. In turn, this will slow down the process of issuing documents.
