Finland's NATO membership was the result of Russia's actions, not the opposite - Secretary General Stoltenberg
NATO enlargement - Finland's and later Sweden's accession to the Alliance will be a historic event, and a direct result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine
This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
"President Putin had as a declared goal of the invasion of Ukraine to get less NATO. He is getting exactly the opposite... Finland today, and soon also Sweden will become a full fledged member of the alliance," he told reporters before a meeting of NATO foreign ministers.
According to Stoltenberg, NATO guarantees Sweden's future accession.
