Finland prepares 14th military aid package for Ukraine – PM Marin
Finland has provided EUR 750 million in military aid to Ukraine and is preparing the 14th package
Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said this at a joint press conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.
“Recently, Finland has decided on the 13th aid package with defense equipment, including heavy weapons. Our military support today reaches EUR 750 million and makes Finland one of the largest arms suppliers to Ukraine. We are also training the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a member of the European Coalition and very soon as part of an EU training mission. We are already preparing our 14th military assistance package,” the Finnish Prime Minister said.
Marin also noted that she listened carefully to President Zelenskyy, who informed her about the Armed Forces' current and Ukraine's long-term needs.
At the same time, she emphasized that Europe should develop a strong and efficient defense industry that would be able to supply Ukraine with materiel in the future, especially shells. According to her, this will be discussed at the next meeting of the European Council.
The prime minister also assured that no one in her country is advocating for the end of support for Ukraine.
“We are living in dark times, but I hope we are united... Ukraine is fighting on the front lines for European values. During the election program, not a single person in Finland said that we should stop supporting Ukraine. On the contrary, everyone said that we should support Ukraine even more,” Marin said.
