Explosions heard at Russian military air base near Simferopol - Russian media

Eyewitnesses say that they saw plumes of smoke near the military airfield near Simferopol. According to local residents, earlier several explosions were heard on the territory of the airport.

According to the source, the Russian military and security forces are testing a version with an attack by a small unmanned aerial vehicle on an ammunition warehouse.

Official representatives of the occupation authorities have not commented on the situation yet. 

The Crimean publication Kafanews writes that residents of the village of Hvardiiske were woken up by a loud explosion around 6:30 a.m. Later, several more explosions were heard near the airbase. In local groups on social networks, they write that a transformer caught fire, and the electricity went out in the village.
