
European Parliament to address peace in Ukraine, Russian deportation of children
The plenary session of the European Parliament, taking place in Strasbourg from May 5 to 8, will focus on building a lasting and just peace in Ukraine, and on the return of children illegally taken by Russia from occupied Ukrainian territories
This is stated in the final draft agenda of the European Parliament, European Pravda reports.
Specifically, from May 5 to 8, the European Parliament will discuss Russia’s illegal transfer of Ukrainian children. A vote on a resolution is planned, along with a debate on possible paths to peace in Ukraine.
EU support for a just, lasting, and full peace in Ukraine will be a key topic for debate this week in the European Parliament, as usual on Wednesday morning. The discussion on peace efforts in Ukraine will begin at 10:00 Kyiv time on May 7.
As reported by European Pravda, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will present the EU’s position on this issue to the MEPs.
The debate on return of Ukrainian children forcibly displaced and deported by Russia will take place late on the evening of May 7, as one of the final items on the European Parliament’s agenda for that day.
On Thursday, May 8, MEPs will vote on a resolution on the issue of Ukrainian children, with the text based on the outcome of the debate.
