European Parliament recognizes Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people
The European Parliament has voted for a resolution recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of Ukrainians.
This is reported by Suspilne.
It is noted that 507 members of the European Parliament supported the resolution, and 12 voted against it.
The document expresses solidarity with Ukraine and honors the memory of millions of people who lost their lives due to the actions of the Soviet regime aimed at spreading artificial famine.
“The European Parliament recognizes the Holodomor, the artificial famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, which was caused by the deliberate actions of the Soviet regime, genocide against the people of Ukraine; it strongly condemns such actions of the totalitarian Soviet regime, which led to the death of millions of Ukrainians and significantly undermined the foundations of Ukrainian society,” the resolution says.
