EU won't impose restrictions on Rosatom in 11th sanctions package
The European Union doesn't plan to formally impose restrictions on the Russian state nuclear company Rosatom in its upcoming sanctions package
CNN reported this with reference to a senior European official.
According to the official, although member states are reducing their dependence on Russian energy, the bloc will not formally target Rosatom in the upcoming package.
The EU is inclined to believe that sanctions alone will not bring independence from Russian energy, and there are other ways to achieve the same goal.
It is expected that at the end of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, the group will outline a firm commitment to independence from Russian nuclear energy sources.
The Hiroshima summit will take place on May 19. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may attend it.
