EU sanctions prevent Russia from compensating for military losses - Borrell
European Union sanctions are undermining Russia's ability to maintain its weapons and military equipment in the war with Ukraine
This was reported by Reuters.
"If you look from the inside, at the inside of a Russian tank destroyed on a Ukrainian street, you will see a huge number of electronic components produced by European countries in these tanks. 45% of Russian technology depends on European imports, and it has stopped," said the head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrell
After Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the EU imposed on Moscow several packages of large-scale sanctions aimed at the financial, transport and energy sectors.
In addition, Borrell said that EU sanctions against Russia already have "very serious consequences" for Moscow.
"Two-thirds of all civilian planes can no longer fly because their components come from Western countries, and the blockade also makes it impossible for them to get the spare parts they need," he added.
Borrell also noted that in the military sphere, Moscow was unable to overcome the "huge military losses it suffered."
