EU extends sanctions against Iran for human rights violations

The EU has extended the restrictions imposed on Iran for human rights violations and added eight more individuals and one organization to the sanctions list

This is stated on the EU Council's website

“Today, the Council decided to impose restrictive measures on additional 8 individuals and one entity responsible for serious human rights violations in Iran,” the statement says. 

“In particular, the Council is sanctioning members of the judiciary responsible for handing down death sentences in unfair trials and for the torturing of convicts,” they added. 

The sanctions now apply to 204 individuals and 34 legal entities and include an asset freeze, a ban on entry to the EU, and a ban on providing funds or economic resources to the persons on the list. There is also a ban on exports to Iran of equipment that could be used for repression and telecommunications monitoring equipment.

Last time the sanctions were extended on February 20.
