EU extends economic sanctions against Russia for six months
The Council of the European Union has decided to extend restrictive measures against certain sectors of the Russian economy for a further 6 months - until January 31, 2023.
Evropeyska Pravda made a report with reference to the statement of the press service of the Council of the EU.
To date, the sanctions consist of a wide range of sectoral measures, including restrictions on finance, energy, technology and dual-use goods, industry, transport and luxury goods.
As European Pravda reports, in addition to economic sanctions against Russia, the EU introduced various measures in response to the criminal actions of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
These include, in particular: restrictions on economic relations with the illegally annexed Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as with the non-government-controlled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions; individual restrictive measures (freezing of assets and travel restrictions) against a wide range of individuals and legal entities, as well as diplomatic measures.
