The European Union ambassador to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, has congratulated Oleksandr Klymenko on being appointed head of the specialised anti-corruption prosecutor’s office, emphasising that Ukraine has fulfilled one of the European Commission's recommendations.
The EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, wrote about this on Twitter.
"Oleksandr Klymenko was nominated today to head the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office - Ukraine delivers on one of the recommendations that accompanied the EU candidate status! A long selection process finalized, offering lessons. I wish Mr Klymenko strength and courage!", he wrote.
It is known that in order to maintain the status of a candidate for EU accession, Kyiv had to complete the appointment of the Head of the SAPO, already selected in the competition, and hold a competition for the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
