Energoatom names most likely scenario for Zaporizhzhia NPP de-occupation
The most likely scenario for the liberation of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP is its encirclement by Ukrainian troops. The Armed Forces of Ukraine will not shell the plant
Energoatom President Petro Kotin made the statement in an interview with the BBC.
"No one is going to attack ZNPP. I think that it will be an encirclement of the station. At a very large distance from the plant. After that, Russian troops will withdraw. Because virtually all the rest of the territory around it will be controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is the only scenario I can imagine. There can be no other scenario," he said.
Kotin emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not pose a threat of damage to nuclear material or cause a radiation explosion at the ZNPP.
When asked whether the Ukrainian Armed Forces were consulted on how to safely vacate the territory, the Energoatom president did not answer.

Kotin said that a nuclear and radiation catastrophe will be avoided if the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is liberated from the Russian occupation next month.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed concern about another blackout at ZNPP, which occurred as a result of a massive missile attack on Ukraine on March 9.
