Russia loses 11 tanks, 1 cruise missile and 830 soldiers in one day of war in Ukraine - General Staff

Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported the information.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to January 22, 2024, amounted to:

• armored fighting vehicles ‒ 11,489 (+23) 
• artillery systems – 8,896 (+21)

Russia's attacks on Ukraine

In total, the invading Russian army launched 4 missiles, 102 air strikes, and 80 MLRS attacks at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private and apartment buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Yesterday, the Russian troops conducted another air strike, using 10 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 8 attack UAVs.

Eight settlements in the Kharkiv region; Makiivka, Serebrianske forestry in the Luhansk region; 15 settlements in the Donetsk region; 5 settlements in the Kherson region were subjected to Russian air strikes.

Over 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under Russian artillery fire.

Situation on the main frontlines

Over the past day, 68 combat clashes took place.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 Russian troops' attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops fended off 5 Russian attacks near Terny and Yampolivka, Donetsk region, and another 6 attacks near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repulsed 7 attacks east of Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders hold back the Russian troops, who are trying to encircle Avdiivka. Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the invading forces. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 5 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka and 12 more attacks south of Sieverne, Pervomayske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region over the last day.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces hold back the Russian troops near Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian forces repelled 5 Russian troops' attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the invading Russian army did not conduct any assaults.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 Russian attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian defense forces expand their foothold. Despite significant losses, the Russian troops continue trying to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions. Over the past day, the Russian forces made 6 unsuccessful assaults on Ukrainian troops' positions.

Attacks by Ukrainian Defense Forces on Russian troops' positions

Ukrainian soldiers continue to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying Russian forces, depleting them along the entire front line.

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 9 concentrations of Russian troops, weapons and military equipment.

Ukrainian missile troops destroyed 1 Russian personnel concentration, 1 control center, 3 artillery units and 1 air defense system.
