Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attacks at the Avdiivka, Kupyansk, Bakhmut, Marinka, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions and eliminated 840 Russian soldiers

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to January 12, 2024, amounted to:

General Staff report: Ukrainian Defense Forces fight off 55 Russian troops' attacks in 6 directions, mostly in Avdiivka direction

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders fended off 2 Russian attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 6 attacks near Makiivka, Luhansk region, and east of Terny, Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops repulsed attack near Klishchiivka, Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders hold back the invading Russian forces, who are trying to encircle Avdiivka. Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the invading forces. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 10 Russian attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka and another 17 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske, Donetsk region, over the past day.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian troops hold back the Russian troops near Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian forces rebuffed 13 attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the invading Russian army did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks west of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to expand their foothold. Despite significant losses, the Russian troops continue trying to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions. Over the past day, the Russian forces conducted 3 unsuccessful assault attacks on Ukrainian troops’ positions.

Invading Russian army carries out 3 air strikes and 16 MLRS attacks on Ukrainian territory

Over the last day, 64 combat clashes took place. In total, the Russian forces carried out 3 air strikes and 16 MLRS attacks at Ukrainian troops' positions and settlements.

Russia launched air strikes at 3 Ukrainian settlements.

Over 130 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under Russian artillery fire.

Ukrainian forces destroy 2 concentrations of Russian troops, weapons and military equipment

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation struck 2 concentrations of Russian personnel.

Ukrainian missile troops struck 2 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, a command and control center and an ammunition depot.

  • Over the last day, 56 combat clashes took place, and Ukrainian troops repelled 25 Russian attacks in the Avdiivka direction.
