Due to Kakhovka dam destruction death toll in occupied Oleshky may have reached 500 people
At least 500 people could have been killed in the temporarily occupied Oleshky, on the left bank of the Kherson region, due to Russian troops destroying the Kakhovka HPP
The National Resistance Center reported the information.
Lives were lost as a result of Russian forces refusing to evacuate individuals without Russian passports. This not only violates the norms of international humanitarian law, but is simply inhumane, as people from the temporarily occupied Oleshky were left to die.
"Russian troops’ actions against the civilian population have all the signs of genocide, and everyone who joined the abuse of Ukrainians will be justly punished," the statement said.
On June 18, Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that 17 people were killed as a result of the Russian military's explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and the flooding of the Kherson region.
"17 people died. Of these, 13 were drowned, and 4 more sustained gunshot wounds during the evacuation. Thirty-one people remain missing," the statement said.
Klymenko also said that water supply has been partially restored in the Novorontsovka district.
“In areas where the water supply remains disrupted, including over 167,000 subscribers in the Dnipropetrovsk region alone, efforts have been made to provide essential drinking and industrial water. In total, over 11,000 tons of water has been delivered to support the residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region," the minister added.
876 houses remain flooded. A total of 3,614 people have been evacuated from the zones of danger, including 474 children and 80 people with limited mobility.
