This is reported by Ukraine's Security Service (SBU).

The Security Service and the AFU special forces conducted a large-scale special operation in the temporarily occupied part of southern Ukraine. As a result of joint actions, a militant of the terrorist organization DPR (Donetsk People’s Republic) who fought against Ukraine as part of the Russian army was detained.

According to the investigation, the detainee is a resident of the town of Zhdanivka, Donetsk region, who in 2014 voluntarily joined the illegal armed groups controlled by the aggressor country. Subsequently, he received a "passport" from the local occupation administration.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the traitor was sent to the 3rd Rifle Platoon of the 1st Company of the 5th Battalion of the 109th Regiment of the People's Militia of the DPR.

There he took an active part in combat operations against the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kherson direction. The facts of his shooting at civilians, from whom he wanted to obtain confessions about their alleged involvement in Ukrainian partisan or subversive intelligence groups, have been established.

He has been notified of the suspicion of Part 1 of Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen. Within the framework of criminal proceedings under part 2 of Art. 111 (treason committed under martial law) and Part 1 of Art.  438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, an investigation is underway to bring the culprit to justice.

Measures to expose, detain and document criminal acts were carried out by employees of the Main Department of Internal Security of the SBU together with investigators of the Security Service of the Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
