Mykola Malomuzh, General of Ukraine’s Army, Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine in 2005-2010, believes that Xi Jinping is trying to play the role of a global world leader.

He said this on Espreso TV channel.

"Xi Jinping is trying to play the role of a global leader on the model of the West-Russia confrontation, not only because of the war in Ukraine but also because of the confrontation between Israel and the Arab world. At the moment, Xi has no alternative; he must express the principles of international law and take on the role of a negotiator. The Chinese will negotiate with Russia to stabilize the situation but under their own control. They will not give full priority to Russia," Malomuzh explained.

According to the general, the Chinese will try to pursue a global policy of partially limiting US influence by recognizing the Palestinian Authority, but not on Israel's terms.

"There will also be another model, where Xi Jinping will proceed from how to resolve the situation in Ukraine and on what terms. Putin will try to set conditions to keep the occupied territories. Xi Jinping will delay this process with his "peace formula" - an end to the war, but not liberation from the occupiers of Ukrainian territories. In other words, Xi Jinping has a dual position on resolving the situation in the East and removing the problems of war and hostilities in Ukraine. He wants to offer such a hybrid formula," Malomuzh stressed.

  • On Tuesday, 17 October, Russian terrorist leader Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing.
  • South Korea, the United States and Japan have set up a trilateral hotline amid the growing military threat from North Korea and China's increased activity.
