"Don't abandon Ukraine!" activists unfold world's largest Ukrainian flag near White House
On March 8, activists held a rally in support of Ukraine near the White House in Washington, D.C., during which they unfolded the world's largest blue and yellow flag
Voice of America journalist Kateryna Lisunova and photographer Alejandro Alvarez reported on social network X.
On March 8, Ukrainian-Americans and concerned U.S. citizens gathered for the "Don't Abandon Ukraine" rally, urging President Donald Trump to reverse his decision to halt military aid to Ukraine.
The protesters also demanded not to do business with Russia and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
As a sign of support for Ukraine, the world's largest blue and yellow flag was unfurled at the rally.
Meanwhile, pro-Trump journalist Nick Sorthor reacted sharply to the protest.
“Who paid for this MASSIVE Ukrainian flag that was unfurled in front of the White House today? How many hundreds of thousands did this cost? I guarantee you my tax dollars somehow funded this,” he wondered in the social network X.
In addition, Republican Senator Mike Lee cynically reacted to the rally in support of Ukraine with the phrase: “Not another penny to Ukraine”.
The Republican was also supported by American billionaire Elon Musk. He called for sanctions against “the top 10 Ukrainian oligarchs, especially those with mansions in Monaco.”
“And this will stop immediately. That is the key to the puzzle,” Musk wrote in X.
- Earlier in the United States, Americans in different cities rallied against the policies of President Donald Trump's administration. In particular, they opposed migration decisions, statements on the Gaza Strip, and the appointment of billionaire Elon Musk to the government.
- Against this backdrop, Donald Trump said that federal funding would be cut off for any school, college or university that allows “illegal protests,” and promised to expel or arrest students who participate in them.
