Ukraine reveals how many children remain in front-line towns of Donetsk region
A total of 89 children remain in the frontline areas of the Donetsk region, plans are in place to evacuate them in the next few weeks
Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk regional military administration, shared this information on the United News telethon.
Kyrylenko said, "In the most critical zones, like Kramatorsk and Bakhmut districts, where settlements are situated along the front line, all services are working tirelessly. Since August 2022, there has been a mandatory evacuation protocol for children in the region. In March 2023, the government approved a decision for compulsory evacuation, and we are actively implementing it."
Currently, there are still 89 children residing in the front-line areas of the region.
He also highlighted that the government's decision from March of this year sanctioned the mandatory evacuation of children from Donetsk region. This action is prompted by the challenging security conditions due to ongoing Russian attacks on populated areas within the front-line zone. Kyrylenko mentioned that convincing parents to leave with their children has been an uphill task.
"We make sure to communicate the potential severe consequences of staying under constant shelling. Parents who are hesitant to evacuate are informed about the potential administrative and criminal consequences," Kyrylenko further explained.
