Representative of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) Andriy Yusov believes Russian leader Vladimir Putin is trying to win the war not only on the battlefield but also for the minds of Ukrainians

Espreso correspondent Kateryna Halko reported this.

According to Yusov, Ukrainians have already debunked most Russian information campaigns, which have failed to achieve their goals.

“But the narratives that Russia promotes globally — that it is supposedly invincible, impossible to defeat, and has never been beaten in history — are lies. Of course, Russia has suffered many military defeats throughout its history, including at the hands of Ukrainians. And that’s the experience Ukraine has repeatedly demonstrated since 2022,” Yusov said.

He stressed that Ukrainians remain remarkably resilient to Russian propaganda and psychological operations, despite facing daily attacks from Russian disinformation and intelligence services.

“Putin is trying to win the war not only on the battlefield but also for minds — the minds and hearts of Ukrainians and people worldwide. Ukrainians are holding firm, and I am convinced Russia will fail,” the HUR representative emphasized.

  • Defense Intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov warned that starting September 12, when large-scale Zapad-2025 military exercises begin in Belarus, Ukraine should expect a surge in Russian information pressure.
