Did the President's Office appoint "supervisors" for the Armed Forces?
I came across an article that suggests the President's Office appointed "supervisors of the counteroffensive brigades," who are individuals with close ties to the President.
If true, this move could signify a lack of trust in the Armed Forces as an institution.
I assume that the Armed Forces may not have trained a sufficient number of effective military leaders. To address this issue, it would be helpful to delegate experienced managers to serve in the army.
It will build up the army as an institution instead of influencing it illegally from outside.
This is especially crucial in our situation with an aggressor neighbor.
Appointing "watchers," as in Yanukovych's time, may be effective in the short term, but it will ultimately destroy the institution.
It is crucial to distribute power instead of concentrating it in one hand, cooperate with free media instead of controlling it, and not pressure the EU to let the government control the courts. Destruction of public administration institutions solely for the sake of control is a path taken by Trump, Orban, and partly Netanyahu, each of whom takes Putin as an example to varying degrees. However, safeguards in place in all of these presidents' countries have prevented autocrats from destroying democratic foundations.
The US institutions and procedures withstood Trump, a strong civil society and opposition restrained Netanyahu, and the European Union restrained Orban.
But who and what will ensure the democratic development of Ukraine? Only our partners from the US, the EU, and other democratic countries can guarantee this.
Democratization, the fight against corruption in Ukraine, as well as the supply of weapons and the provision of financial assistance in the fight against the aggressor, are the keys to our Victory.
