First detailed photos of kamikaze drone attacking Moscow published
The long-range kamikaze drone was demonstrated by volunteers Serhiy Prytula and Serhiy Sternenko
The published photos show the main details of the drone itself, which does not yet have an official name. The photo contains a message in which Russians are told to go to bomb shelters, to watch strategic targets being hit by sirens and air defence systems during sleepless nights, and to go to cemeteries during the day to bury their loved ones.
The fact that these are the drones in the video is indicated by their distinctive details - the “duck” aerodynamic design, landing gear and internal combustion engine. And these are the drones that have already been filmed by Russians.
Earlier, another Ukrainian blogger, Ihor Lachenkov, took a photo with the same drone.
Public photos of the drone were also posted at the state level. On 25 July, this drone was also demonstrated in Kyiv at a forum dedicated to the anniversary of the Army of Drones project. At the time, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that UAH 40 billion had been allocated to drone manufacturers.
Also in the Facebook video, the two volunteers "played cities", listing Kingisepp, Perm, Moscow and Arkhangelsk, with the note that the drone would not reach the latter city yet.
This may indicate the range of the drone, but we note that the distance from the Ukrainian border to Moscow is about 450 km, to the small town of Kingisepp in the Leningrad region is 820 km, and to Perm and Arkhangelsk is 1400 km. And in any case, at least for now, these drones have not flown further than Moscow.
At the same time, the drone itself deserves attention because of the rather pragmatic solutions used in its development. For example, the drone is launched from a runway, which eliminates the need for a catapult or rocket booster. But of course, it requires an airfield, although Iran is launching similar drones from the roof of a car that accelerates to the take-off speed of the drone.
The very smooth contours of the body, which is carbon fibre, as well as the small size of the object, suggest a small effective scattering area, which makes this drone quite difficult to detect by radar stations.
As for the communication systems, it is obvious that this drone is a projectile aircraft and is intended to make a single, but spectacular flight. At the same time, the navigation system obviously has not only a satellite system, but also, most likely, an inertial system, as evidenced by the air pressure receiver. This device allows to measure the speed and altitude of the aircraft.
And such a system already makes it possible to reduce the effectiveness of Russian electronic warfare, because even without satellite navigation, the drone will continue to fly along a given route, but with much less accuracy.
It also became possible to answer whether this drone is the same UAV "1000 km away" from Ukroboronprom. The detailed photo of the nose most likely indicates that these are different designs.
This is evidenced by the groove for the catapult hook in the Ukroboronprom drone part, the means of fixing it with screws, and what appears to be a slightly different shape.
And the main thing is that the demonstrated drone is already flying, and is being actively mass-produced, so the next step is to expand the mass production of the Ukrainian long-range weapon.
