Destruction of European community is Putin's explicit goal – MP Kniazhytskyi

He said this during the international Europe Looking Ahead forum broadcast by Espreso TV. 

“It's unfair when we talk about Europe and leave the border in front of Ukraine. Ukraine is the gateway to Europe. For many centuries, Ukraine has been the battlefield where the fate of Europe has been decided. The first victims of this century for European unity were also in Ukraine - the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. The best Ukrainians are now dying on the battlefield for the future of Europe. Many of the young people who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war should have been making the history of Europe. Ukrainians are fighting to preserve Ukraine and Europe,” emphasized Kniazhytskyi.

The MP also added that the destruction of the European community is Putin's overt goal. The same goes for the elimination of NATO as a defense alliance of democratic states in Europe and North America.

“The ultimatum that the Kremlin sent to the United States and the Alliance in December 2021 is a direct confirmation of this. The heroic resistance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people has thwarted Russia's plans. We have no right to rest on our laurels, because the aggressor is waiting for us to slow down. We see the future in Ukraine, Europe and the community of democratic countries, not in authoritarian regimes,” emphasized Kniazhytskyi.
