Denmark to supply 45 more tanks to Ukraine as part of previously announced aid
Denmark will supply 45 more tanks to Ukraine - 30 Leopard 1 tanks and 15 T-72 tanks, which will be delivered as part of the previously announced assistance
TV2 reported the information, citing the head of the Ministry of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen.
The additional assistance will include 30 Leopard 1 tanks and 15 T-72 tanks. This information is not officially available on the ministry's website.
This military assistance is part of a package amounting to about EUR 777 million euros (DKK 5.8 billion), which Denmark announced last week without specifying details.
The outlet notes that the idea behind the new 15 T-72EA tanks is that, unlike Leopard tanks, they can be immediately incorporated into the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Denmark previously bought and delivered 100 Leopard 1 tanks in cooperation with Germany and the Netherlands.
The first Leopard tanks were shipped in July, and on September 8, the Ministry of Defense announced that the first 10 tanks had been shipped to Ukraine and were still on their way.
Avisendanmark reports that these tanks will be purchased with the participation of other countries, but the minister did not name them.
"This is in cooperation with other countries that have access to tanks they have," Troels Lund Poulsen said upon arrival at the Ramstein base.
Troels Lund Poulsen will also meet for the first time with Ukraine’s new Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov.
He will also report on the training of Ukrainian F-16 pilots in Denmark.

On September 12, the Danish Ministry of Defense announced a new record-breaking military aid package to Ukraine amounting to USD 833 million. It will include tanks, armored personnel carriers, anti-aircraft guns, and ammunition to be supplied over three years. Zelenskyy emphasized that this is exactly what was agreed upon with the Danish government team.
